Default New MacBook Pro refresh announced (link)

Well, I sold my MacBook Pro yesterday (made profit on it too!) in hopes of there being a refresh soon, and as of this morning, they were released on the Apple store.

    http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/13/a...i5-and-core-i/

The 13" remain almost the same, with bumps in speed, the GPU swapped out, increased battery life, etc.

The 15" get the "holy shit" package.

My main gripe: WHERE IS THE USB 3.0!!!

Anyhow, read within for more info. For anyone in the market for a MacBookPro, hopefully this will help with your buying considerations

Mac machines are all very solid. Windoze machines crash and have so many issues. I will gladly sacrifice usb3 for a machine that I can count on 100% of the time...

Yes. I am with you 500%
When we all make music, the God Spirit travels out of our bodies and we become one with each other. And for just a second, there is no war, greed, or hate in the world, just music, the celebration of life. (and usually a party, which is good too!)

I own a MAC because I use it for my university design courses, but I too tend to believe they are over-priced.

I have no problem spending that type of money on something which I find useful, and has the exact features which I need. USB 3.0 is a huge deal for me, its more than a feature, its future proofing. Look at how much we rely on USB 2.0 for all of our stuff, imagine what will come with 3.0

For the digital DJ, USB is the bread and butter

Overall though, I was really hoping they would give the 13" a CPU upgrade entirely. Still a welcome refresh though.

The GPU which automatically switches on and off is nice.

The biggest disappointment always remains to be only 2 usb ports. The only possible reason I could see for not including it is power consumption. Even space isn't a very reasonable explanation since after getting rid of a full DVI port that basically opens up space for another one.

So it looks like if someone is in the market for a new Mac laptop, the 15" version seems the way to go.

Pricey, but looks pretty solid. I can't afford one at the moment, but it's nice seeing what is going on for the future.

I agree that future proofing is great, but it's also a matter that not a ton of things really use USB 2.0, nevermind 3.0 which I imagine will take a couple years to really catch on. So we'll see how that goes.

i Have one of the early unibody's with the expresscard port and have no issues with it though i only use it to dj, and am wonderinf if going to the i macbook pro will be worth the upgrade as it doesn't have an expresscard port which i use for a usb card...I'm pretty close to rodering one this week..but i rally want to know if its worth the upgrade.
