1.Well my real name's David. I've got a DJ name in mind as well, but I think I'll wait until I some skills to back it up before I throw it out to the world. At the moment I'm about as beginner as it gets, but I'm hoping to change that with enough effort and practice.
2. I currently live in Nelson, BC, but in January I'll be heading down to Prescott, AZ to go to school for about 5 months.
3. As for music, my tastes seem to be getting broader as I get older, so there's a lot of stuff that I find pretty intriguing, but as far as dancing goes breaks are probably my true love. To be more specific I'd say slamming, techy breaks that are still funky and have some melody and progression. Throw in some hip-hop influences and a little bit of glitchiness and I'm really in heaven. I'm not sure what genre I'd call that though
I also wanted to say that I've been reading this site for about a month or so and I've been super impressed by the level of helpfulness and general civility of the community. Really, it was probably one of the big things that encouraged me to buy a VCI-100 and jump in and give this a try.
Name is Alex Laine. I have been DJing for about 5 years off and on. Started seriously DJing in middle of 2007 and moved from trance and vinyl to house/techno and traktor in January of 2008. (I have traveled internationally with vinyl, it was one of the worst experiences of my life...)
I currently reside outside Richmond VA, but I have lived in Brighton UK (you Brits know that town I'm sure) and I am working on moving back there to pursue DJing. Should prove to be a good time.
Again, I spin club house, electro, progressive house, tech house, and techno.
I work as the editor in chief of the online magazine over at Tastyfresh.com.
I also work with Giantslayers records, which is a techno/tech house label.
