How’s it going? Do you edit the music you spin to be more dj friendly or just buy remixes on djcity or another site like that?

Due to time restraints and, if I'm being honest, a combination of disorganisation and laziness, the vast majority of my music is still on vinyl. I actually haven't started to transfer any of it yet, so the only digital files I have are from my small (by DJ standards) collection of CD's and, more recently, the digital files that come with new vinyl (e.g. from Bandcamp). I get sent stuff from artists and independent labels from time to time and, when I'm in a hurry, I sometimes buy stuff from iTunes.

It's nice to be able to use technology to advance 'the art', and it certainly makes beat mixing easier if you know the tempo and key information of the songs, but not everything has to be mixed for the crowd to enjoy themselves.

Howdy folks,

Been watching loads of dj tech tools reviews and videos online so thought I'd join the forum. Was a harcore raver from the mid 90's. Used to own some 1210's and played a lot of hard techno, trance and hard house. Always regretted selling my Techics and vinyl collection, started playing around with traktor, launchpad and various apps on 2 ipads hooked up to an external mixer and was blown away by possibilities with them.

Decided it was time to buy an S4 controller and create a mini studio in my attic.

Returning to DJing after a few years away - new job, new city and more time to play records!

I play house music across most genres

Current setup: Traktor Control S8, CDJ 1000MK3 x2, MacBook Pro 13" Running Traktor, KRK Rokit 5's and some old Gemini TT02 TT's...

I like to indulge myself in a bit of production from time to time and I am running Logic Pro X and Ableton on Mac, with Ableton Push, Maschine Mikro, M-Audio M-Trak and a few other bits and pieces that I have gathered over the years (APC Mini, M-Audio Trigger Finger, Novation Launchpad and Launch Control, Novation Launchkey 25).

Favourites at the minute include Doorly, Kink, Shift K3y, Friend Within, Dave Earl, Riton and Mark Knight.

Current favourite - Kink - Perth
All time favourite - Man With the Red Face - Mark Knight and Funkagenda.
