Hi there. Just really arrived at the forums! Im no dj but have just got a Herclules RMX unit(for home use) It comes with virtual dj (which seems good enough to get me started)
Im still very much finding my way and have just been learning about the unit! Hoping to pick up some tips and friendly advice on the forums here. I probably will at some point want to ask about setting up traktor as my friend currently uses it and asks if the RMX would be a good controller for it.
Dont have any questions at the moment but they will come. Just wanted to say hello and check out the site!
Regards
Mark
real name: Oskar. dj name: nothing as of yet
I am from a city called Umeå in the north of Sweden, I have lived there all of my life. I'm currently studying for a masters exam in engineering physics, got three whole years left but I'm hanging in there.
Being a student is what got me into DJing in the first place, I had been at a sittning* at one of the student night clubs when I saw the DJ walk up to the DJ booth and begin preparing. I began talking to him and a couple weeks later I was a member of the DJ group that plays at the student club. This was a year ago, and I have been playing since then.
The music I enjoy playing the most is generally UK hardcore, full-on and psytrance, but I have as of late expanded into house music.
The music I enjoy listening to is all of the above mentioned plus DnB, IDM and J-core.
Sadly, I can't play the music I want since the crowd at the student club only wants me to play songs they recognize, which means people come up to the DJ booth asking for Infinity, I Kissed a Girl, Pokerface or just tell me to "play something you can dance to!" or "play better music!" without saying what they would think is better, confusing me to no end.
*I don't know the correct translation, but it is a dinner with lots of singing, snaps and whatever activities, usually related to alcohol though, people come up with during the course of the evening.

I quitted my professional dj carreer in 2007, mostly due to a lack of challenge and i was getting bored of the music i was hired for. Now with the technolgiy, such as controllerism, it's a brand new challenge and i'm so excited! I'm glad i found out DTT
