I was going to buy some production equipment, like fl studio, before I buy it I'd like to know what the best genre is to focus on, I was told djs like carl Cox and dj tiesto are no longer as popular as they used to be

That's a weird question. Are asking us to tell you what type/genre of music you should produce based on what might be the next popular genre or style? I think that's the wrong reason to create music, to be honest but good luck.

Dunno. Some people say it is better to use somethign that you alredy know well. So I try to follow this and don't experiment with new equipement or software.
