Richie Hawtins set up looks amazing, not very much detail on this but something to get excited about?

Looks unnecessarily complicated. Guys like Richie Hawtin and BT... I get the vibe that they're just doing new/different things just to keep themselves interested and have no real attachment to the tools they're using. I'm sure in a year or 2, Richie Hawtin will be using completely different tools for playing out.
MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Core i7 :: Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.10.5
Traktor Pro 2.9 :: Launchpad :: MIDI Fighter Pro Beatmasher/3D
Why does this clip come to mind lmao
13" MacBook Pro 2.7 i7 w/dual Raid0 OWC SSDs - S4 - Ableton Live 8- Lemur- iPad 2
I agree with him though. For as long as I remember - Hawtin never stuck around with any one tool. I remember when he was one of the first big name DJs to use Final Scratch. Then he jumped onto Traktor, then added on Ableton, and how it seems he got rid of Traktor and is using a Lemur + Ipad on Ableton to control his shows.
So yeah, when the next best thing comes along - he'll be on it.
So what??!?!
I fail to understand what the issue is with that?
He uses em well....is innovative....to a degree......and makes the people go OFF.

there was a post the other week with a vid where hawtin talks about his set-ups, changes them every year based on what new stuff is available

Bloody well said.
I dont get the hate on this.
Hawtin is still on Traktor, of course he is.
His setup changes depending on what and where he is playing and what kind of set he wants to do.
Hes hardly gonna use all that touchscreen stuff on the terrace at Space in Ibiza. That festival looks like the kinda place to do a more experimental, less straight up DJ kinda thing.
Funny we have one thread going "iPad is the NUTZ" and another going "Pah whats next"
Personally i cannot stand Hawtins music but it has to be said that he is a pioneer of Digital DJing and controllerism.
Hes an easy target for the haters, at least hes not Tiesto :eek:
