I have the core 2 duo version, I think it's a 1537. I loved it when I bought it, running it with windows 7 now. BUT, I took it to a total of 10 gigs and I am almost always gentle with my stuff, somehow just taking it in and out of the bag and what not caused the battery to break, 2 keys to come off and all of the plastic around the left hinge has cracked off.... everything still works fine, just a pain that the cosmetic bits are soooooooo cheap and came off that easy. If you can save up and buy a mac like i did
Na always a PC for me, I had a g4 years ago, it was ace but i can get a better spec PC/Lappy so unless it's free i will always be a PC man, not a mac hater but I fix laptops for a living as well as dj and I prefer a laptop.

Make sure you do your homework on the specific model if you do go with a Dell Studio. I have a 1535 which is about 2 years old, and it has latency spikes due to a common fault with the motherboard. Its also started to creak and the battery is totally dead so Im hopefully going to get a refund when I get round to starting the mega long process of talking to some guy in India about audio latency and my rights as a consumer!
Yup alot of the "studio" models are plagued with DPC latency issues - buyer beware ! do your research !
I am on a dell Latitude d630 now and its ok, but if the new dells pants then it goes back
