I feel bad when i get back from a gig with my ears ringing and i really value my ears but it's just a fear of looking like a tit with ear plugs i suppose :S

Especially if you're out on the pull :\

I'm reading this as i still have muffled hearing from wakestock at the weekend and i think i will invest in some quality hard to see plugs.

yeap well i always knew i would develop some sort of tinnitus - went clubbing early (when i was 17 with a fake id) , started spinning when i was 19 , now im 26 and all those noises must have done some sort of damage to me

even before i was djing i loved listening to metal/loud music on my walkman headphones (back then we had cassette tapes - no discmans or ipods!)

plus im a gym junkie and i always wear my earphones + ipod when i workout (5-6 days a week, one hour per session)

plus lately ive been gridding my tracks in traktor thru the headphones (late at night cant turn the sound up) - and spend hours on this as well,

now i really take care of my ears, i always wear earplugs when i go out (got a custom made one) - the ringing is not always there, its like on and off and very faint - before it gets any worse im taking it easy on my ears
    Setup:

    Traktor Pro 2 / S2 MK2 / X1 MK2 / Audio6 / Pioneer HDJ2000 / Westone UM3X / rMBP 13 inch 2014 (2.8 GHz) / Focal Alpha 50

    'I can't get no sleep
And I need to get some rest,
    I confess, I don't wear earplugs
Yes, yes, it was me I plead guilty

    Of the tinnitus frequencies
    Caused by the def-jam

And drop back into the banging house. You could use that to push your product.

Someone get Faithless on the line. Someone give me lots of money. Someone have the Sugababes washed, oiled, and sent to my flat. I'm a frickin' genious.
Haha, I think Drum & Bass already has the song you're looking for :P
"You know that ringing in your ears?
    That: eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?
That's the sound of the ear cells dying.
Once it's gone you'll never hear that frequency again"

I get way less weird looks in the crowd now that the little cord which ties my ETY-20 together stays in the carrying pouch

(edit that is as a punter of course, not someone in the booth)

I mean, loud music illicits both a psychological and physical response. People LIKE it to be loud. Personally, I wear earplugs whenever I can. I went to go see sleigh bells last night, a band I thought was going to destroy me with raw volume. had plugs in. Took them out after 1 song because they were not terribly loud.

Can you wear plugs like the ety-20's under earphones?
    Is there any point?

    I'm not trolling, just wondering?
