Maybe DJ's should Unionize. Side note:It's interesting that "Mix Artist" is the applied title to someone who spins but doesn't aspire to do it pro or semi pro.

I did my playing out & residencies in the early 90s - loved every minute of it but honestly wouldn't want to do it again now

I love house music & mixing though and will never give it up at home & at parties

Whoohoo! First vote for part-time producer!

Nah but in between working the 3rd shift and my summer school class (not to mention hanging out with my friends) I usually find time to squeeze in at least an hour or two of producing every day. Sometimes I have work off and no homework and I'll sit in front of my computer for five to six hours in one day.

Yay for going back to school in two weeks and actually have more time to produce!

wheres the all in one options for bedroom dj aspiring for more, part time producer(also mixing and mastering), school music student, doing some live job as a tech, being in the video game industry(sound)...i want to touch at everything i can in this industry and its the only domain i would wake up everyday and work into.

random gigs will pop up for me every now and then. i really dont have the motivation to even perform. just trying to find the enjoyment to be mixing and scratching in the "bedroom" studio on my own time.

I don't remember where I saw that, but I though it was better than bedroom DJ. Kind of separates us from the people who just hit cruise or are just fiddling around or don't take it very seriously.

"Bedroom DJ" always gives me this vision of playing music from somebody's closet in Suburbia while they get down with their significant other. Hey wait a minute, I live in Suburbia, maybe I should make up some flyers.
