    Default Using synthesizers

Does anyone have any ideas about where can I go to learn about the more technical side of sound synthesis? I've dabbled with a few VST instruments and know the basics of synths (ie oscillators, filters, detuning etc) but couldn't tell you the difference between and FM synth and a subtractive synth. I want to learn some of the more advanced features of VST synths so should I be looking at that book the "electronic dance music manual"? Or any good sites?

This is a good book, and very thick too. Well worth the money.

www.idmforums.com (the lab, and synthesis sections are good).

I learnt from simply playing playing and more playing, costs nothing and is more fun
