    Default New to the Traktor

Hey guys, so I just got my Traktor Scratch Pro package and I'm struggling with setting the whole thing up with my equipment. My setup is 2 CDJ-200s, Numark X6 mixer, an Audio 8 DJ and MacBook Pro... Basically, I'm stuck trying to figure out input and output settings. I don't hear any audio and unfortunately I don't have any headphones right now to test the cue. Is the reason I don't hear any audio from my laptop because it's hooked up to an external soundcard? My CDJs are working fine as I can change the pitch on Traktor but it's the mixer that won't work. Any help with be greatly appreciated!

Stupid question but have you got speakers plugged into the mixer?

No, I just wanted to test everything out on my laptop because the place I'd work at (on-campus bar) just has a headphone jack that plugs into the laptop and plays over the system's speakers.

i'm not familiar with the scratch system and how you get cdj control but as for the mixer:

Set Traktor to external mixer mode, send Deck A out of one channel on the soundcard, send deck B out of the other channel on the soundcard. Plug these two outputs into your mixer channels 1 and 2. That should be it and then you plug your headphones into the mixer.

Also check you have installed the soundcards drivers properly

go to the preferences and make sure your audio ins and outs and whatnot are right

also make sure youre using the right sound card or whatever you need to do with scratch pro

Your going to have to have either headphones or speakers to hear music. And you will need both to do it right eventually. If your going to hook up to a system that normally hooks up to a computer you'll need a mini stereo plug to RCA y cable. Plug the RCA's in to your mixers out

Cool. FYI, the Audio 8 replaces the internal soundcard when you have set it up correctly, which is why you couldn't hear sound from your laptop.
