well the desktop is going to have to be on a network somehow, otherwise theres no way, unless you just get a super duper usb extender and hook the camera up to the desktop and run it all the way to your set

if the TV upstairs doesnt have any type of equipment to receive a signal (slingbox, pc w/ vid out to tv, etc) then you can't go "from usb webcam to tv."

you could get a cheap vid card in the tv downstairs that has a coaxial output, then run the coaxial out the back all the way up to the tv. it would be a manner of outputting whatever stream is coming from your pc to the tv... something like this:

    http://www.svideo.com/svideocoax.html

but even then, that's just what the pc is displaying, not necessarily what the webcam is recording.

x10 has some nice cameras that have rca outs that a tv could then receive

but uh, just tell em to come downstairs and jam instead? :P

youve confused me now? from where im standing right now the desktop is just to the left, with the hdmi running up about a metre to the tv mounted on the wall, and the webcam is sitting on top of the laptop directly in front of my shining down onto the TT's, the webcam is connected to the desktop via USB, all i want is to bump up a program, so the cam see's everything i do and projects it onto the tv (computer monitor)
