    Default ow-ow...ch

so i had my first gig today, and it seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves.

but this isnt about that (theres still like 2 threads floating around with first gigs as the subject)

this is about how ive got me first taste of controller discrimination

a 50+ year old man passed by several times and stare at my gear each time while walking

then as every one was leaving and i was letting the last song play out he stood in front of my table staring at my controller. i asked if he would like me to explain how it all works

then he nodded his head no very quickly turned around and muttered bullshit all at once.

as far as i could tell, he thought i wasnt doing anything at all. but there were several times when it was obvious that i was.

you know its hit or miss with some folks. I've taken a VCI-100 places and people will say "wow thats all you need now-a-days to DJ, I remember growing up guys had to carry around turntables" I've also taken an NS7 out and people were just amazed with the spinning platters and thought it was revolutionary techonolgy.

In the end, i really realized the people staring at your equipement don't count. It's the guy people dancing. If they're having a good time, the guy paying you to be there is having a good time.
