    Default beatjumping

im mapping an mpd32 and want to know if people use the beatjump and for what reason.i've seen shiftees video where he sets a loop and moves the loop 1 beat to repeat a part which sounded good.i've read some threads where people say they use beatjump in every set but i cant think of why this would be needed if cue points are used anyway.hope someone can help.

I used traktor for 3 years and never once used it haha. If you set your cue points properly and have the ability to drop cues on the fly, I dont really see the need of it. But thats just my opinion of it.

I use it to skip boring bits of tunes sometimes.

same, a long build up or something. I have it set to 4 bars/8 bars, and the jump is seemless, so it just shortens a boring break or build up

if i'm doing a long mix of two songs and they are supposed to go into a break together but one track gets ahead of the other i'll beat jump backward or forward to get the timing right.

    +1 to skip long builds

have the cdj 400 rwd / ffwd bound to -16/+16 and trk rev / trk fwd to -32/+32

found i wasnt using anything less than those counts very often.

thanx guys im liking the + - 8,16 and 32 for long mix situations or potential phrasing trainwrecks.its work in progress but is coming together.when its finished i'll post it although its geared towards c and d essentials to accompany a vci100 but will have some efx on the other banks.

Gree with all previous replies. Very helpful when used to skip long buildups or low-energy beats. The fact they are beatsynced enough is very helpful too.

Going forwards or backwards to the beat and you can make an on the fly sort of remix.

I do that while mixing long outros with long intros... just to fit 64 bars right...
