    Default Mixxx 1.8.0 Released

    Hi all,

Mixxx 1.8.0 has been released. Mixxx is community-produced, Free and open-source DJ software for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

The latest release of Mixxx includes looping, 32 hot-cues per deck, and a completely re-written library. Mixxx can read your iTunes library or your Rhythmbox library on Linux. This release also includes a suite of 5 new skins that really improve how Mixxx looks. See a gallery here: Skin Gallery.

Mixxx has an advanced mapping system that lets you script mappings for your MIDI devices in Javascript. This leaves options a-plenty for controllerism addicts. The newest release includes new mappings for the DJ TechTools MIDI Fighter, the Hercules DJ Control e2, and the Reloop Digital Jockey 2, and updated mappings for the Hercules MP3/MK2/RMX, Stanton SCS.3 System, M-Audio Xponent, Behringer BCD-300, Vestax VCI-100, and MixMan DM2.

You can get more information at the official blog post: http://mixxxblog.blogspot.com/2010/1...-released.html

    Check it out!

If you run into problems, please check our forums, wiki, or mailing list. If you find any bugs, please report them in our bug tracker..

Finally, if you're a software developer and love to DJ, you should join our team! Hacking on Mixxx is almost as fun as DJing itself.

    Thanks,
    RJ Ryan

this is interesting. I tried the older version, but it was (to me) not even near to usable.
I find it worth because its free, and there is linux version.
If anyone tries this on ubuntu let me now. :-)

The polls on that page are priceless. Canadians are coming up as most likely to destroy the world but Mixxx is still far ahead....

Having a Mixxx with the new version right now Question: Any way to maximise the view? Even on full screen it only seems to take up 1/3 the screen.

Currently Mixxx is fixed resolution (hopefully by Mixxx 2.0 it won't be). You can change the skin to something bigger in the Preferences -> Interface section.

    YES...YES...YES!!!

With this release Mixxx is now ready for prime-time...IMHO.

I also tried some of the earlier versions but found them too limiting.

Mixxx is far from perfect, but with hot cues, looping, and crates, it does 95% of what the average club DJ needs...FOR FREE.

I love the effort being put in to Mixxx development. It's not got the features I want yet but they have my admiration.

FYI - rock solid sync and four decks.

+1 Great to see a user community developing and progressing on a product that after all is free for use. Good stuf.
