Default What are you working on??

    random:

Ive been doing a lot of thinking.. specifically, "what next?"
I can beatmatch, i can eq mix, i know how to create a "wave" of energy to build anticipation and knw when to keep the energy a little lower..

so what next? i know its a very general thought, but what have you guys been working on lately for your live gigs??

In terms of skill and technicality, what sets "world class" djs from the rest of the dj community??

I've been working on a whole new live set using nothing but my launchpad. Something like this....

I've got about 8 songs now, and the glitch mob cover.

Working on making some House for a change, rewire with Ableton and FL 8.

Not having a decent drum pad hurts. (The nanoPad broke...)

I am working on getting used to my current setup.

Using the APC40 for Deck A and B and the VCI00 for Deck C and D.

A and B are just normal internal mixing decks.

C is my Traktor Scratch Deck where I have connected a single TT.
D is my sample deck....and I control it with the VCI.

Now....i want to route this all into Ableton....and setup the Smartmixer.

Then...I will be a happy man.

Oh....and install a Pro x Fade into the VCI...and upgrade the firmware...

getting used to all the new things i have been taught in Ableton, then trying to remember them! and trying to find time to actually do more mixing or practise mixing, not happy with my latest mix at all left it up but decided I dislike it lol.

going to have to put something new together soon to appease my inner hate hah.

i'm on an extended hiatus from playing out for health reasons but still pursuing my love for djing with a couple different projects.

number one priority is my 90% finished upcoming studio mix, which is more focused on a variety of brokenbeat electronic music genres. it's already been a year since the last mixtape i've released so i'm feeling the pressure to get that done soon..

the other project is much more open ended but more intense as it requires me to create custom bootlegs and edits in ableton before using them in traktor. basically i'm creating a bunch of 10-15 minute mashup routines with eclectic tracks and my custom bootlegs, i guess similar to what Z-Trip and Girl Talk do. the plan is to eventually string some of the better routines together for a studiomix to release, but also use them for live shows once i'm ready to start gigging again.

i like to do both straightforward dance music mixing and eclectic/mashup mixing because i tend to get bored of one or the other after a certain while, so this way it keeps me interested in djing so my technical skills don't get rusty.
