I have heard good things about the Shure M44 7s
For the price, the m447 it is a no brainer, ortofons are very good also but are more expensive and tear the record.
"Whats a good cartridge...."
not the HP one on the plane waiting for a phone call
As everyone here has stated, Shure M44-7's are the Tech1200's of the stylus/cartridge world.
I have used everything from Ortofons to Numarks to Stantons and nothing comes close to a properly seated, balanced and weighted Shure M44-7.

I just bought two Shure M447's seem really nice but i am no judge of carts as the last time i upgraded Stanton 500's were the best lol!
If price is a concern, think about some Shure M25c's since they're considerably cheaper than the M447's. No other cart will give you the performance these do at their price. They're very good.
You can upgrade when you learn more about the other carts out there and are willing to spend extra cash on the better skip resistance and higher output. I also like M447s, no surprises there.
shure 44-7s + 1
