It seems and looks great! Im thinking of updating to this instead of using my cubase-system.

It means others can develop for it....and you can use any soundcard ya want, as apposed to having to use the protools cards...
That's not open source. That's just open API. Open source means the source code is available and you you can contribute to the code and compile it for your own use. Before anyone says anything, it *is* important to get the terminology right as diluting the term cheapens the importance of contributing to real open source projects.
