Nice vid! Wonder if I'll ever get the chance to play with one?
Fantastic.
I was lucky enough to get a one on one with Mix Architekt at BPM and his explantation of this mixer got me very excited.
At first when the DB was announced i was like "really, thats it" but you have to understand where this mixer fits in the digital realm. I still dont really know where in relation to Traktor it stands but as a mixer its head and shoulders above anything in its class. If FX is your thing then this is worlds beyond anything else.
Powerful is not a powerful enough word, if that makes sense.
Its not a mixer that i would choose as DVS is half of what i do but if i ever win the Lottery ill pick one up in a heartbeat and id probably walk over the Pioneer to get to it.
This is what i'm getting when I return home.

Agreed. Great kit, silly price.
The price is right up there with the Xone:92 at launch. My guess is that the price will gradually drop w/in 6 months of launch to about 1700-1850 USD. Of course I have no real evidence but experience, declining world economies and increased competition typically work in our favor. Hopefully deflation of the USD doesn't run amok while i'm overseas.
Also, given that the Xone:4d ranged in price from 2800-2200 USD (retail, new) and, quite frankly, the DB handles a fair number of functions that could be controlled via midi make it a great buy...for me. Maybe an apple and orange comparison is not very fair for the DJTT user base that gravitates around controllers but consistent and standard controls are important for me. Being able to control Loops, EFX, Filtering for TP audio and external other sound sources in a common control interface is extremely attractive to me. I don't like that loops from my CDJs are engaged differently than loops from TP. The same with EFX and then often having to switch to Audio Through.

I personally think that people have been over paying for DJ equipment for quite some time and that companies profit values per unit sold are through the roof when it comes to this type of stuff.
Companies like NI show that it is possible to give really respectable prices and still offer quality. More people are starting to realize this which hurts the overpriced equipment sales in the long run. It's only a matter of time!

I won't argue regarding overpriced gear but seems the gap between the beginner and "pro" level gear shortens every quarter. I won't speculate on profit margins--how would any of us know unless we are in a board meeting?
I also don't think it is fair to compare a mixer like the DBX to say the S4 despite my offhand attempt in a previous post. Ultimately they are two entirely different products catered to different work flows. I haven't messed around with either but most of the information i've gathered really pushes me towards to DBX. I'm a huge EQ/filter user and really don't get much into EFX. Also the channel options on the dbx look intriguing.
I really hope we aren't just rah rah'ing around NI et al, so companies like A&H can't afford to develop products or have to make sacrifices elsewhere. Or so much that NI sacrifice software innovations for the next controller du jour only to be tossed in a year.
