Default akai apc and ableton live8 mapping

hi guys, im new on here and also new to ableton and the apc40. I will be using these two for live djing.

i have a few questions that hopefully can get answered eventually:

    1. how do i go about mapping the apc40 controls to my liking?

    2. whats the safest way to upload my music library to ableton, i.e. for my dj sets? also, will my library save into ableton?

Some examples of what Im trying to explain are right here:

The way they have theirs set up is what im going for.

    Also like this ^^

These two set-up's are what I want mine to be like to be straight forward.

I know, Im a noob, but could someone give me some tips about this.

    Thanks alot

    1) mail the guy from the 2º vid for his template. you can try this to expand the apc potential without using any extra software
    2) there is no music library in ableton, it only saves a file for each file containing bpm and warpmarker data. You need to compile it into a liveset you are going to a) open at a gig, or b) import parts from it.

Thanks for the reply! I have emailed twice about it, but no response yet.

So as far as the music part goes, it will save my music if I create a folder in ableton and drag songs to that folder?

    1.open live
    2.drag song in
    3.grid songs
    4.chop them in different clips
    5. repeat 2-4 for every song

if you just make a folder for it you only get full songs and would have to chop clips (think of them as hotcues for full songs) on the fly

Ok thanks!! Ill try this when i get home and let you know how i do.

Quick question, would buying a template be the easiest way to have my apc40 mapped? How do those work?

I'm more of a DIY guy so never bought one. I think the easiest way is for you to learn about the subject and do one, it's the only way you will get familiar with live and tailor it to your needs.

check tom cosm's megaset and tutorial

The Megaset is the inspiration for many templates including mine and WIll MArshalls, each person takes it on his own unique way....

Yeah S4racen, I hear what your saying! Only problem is that I am not familiar with how to map it to my likings. Anyone have a step by step for me? I know i have to go to 'preferences' then to 'edit midi map' . after that, im not sure what to do...
