NYE gig conundrum

Yeah, so i just got a sweet gig at a local bar for NYE which im wicked pumped about.... awesome right?

Wrong. The first time i hooked up with my now girlfriend of a year, was NYE 2009, and shes under the impression that date is our anniversary and is trying to get me not to play. (shes 20 and cant drink at the bar otherwise it would be golden ----free bar tab for the night).

What do i do? im thinking im gonna do it anyways and just deal with the fallout later - the bar manager wants to give me weekly or bi weekly gigs if it goes well.....

If you and your girlfriend are serious and she cares about you, explain how much this could help your career etc. hopefully she understands, and then dedicate the set to her and your twos relationship (and tell manager you want your gf to get free tab too, if they know shes with you they probably wont ID her)

Do the gig. The chances of u marrying that girl are slim, and if u do, it won't matter anyway.

Tell her if you dont do the gig, sure you will have one good nite.
BUT if you do the gig you will:
A. Get paid and treat her to a better dinner another nite.
AND
B. Get a residency and you can get her some shoes or whatever shiz shes into more often.

Talk to the manager about the situation. Perhaps something can be worked out to accommodate both parties.

and i already talked to both him and my girl...

the owner's advice was "are you married? no? then whats the problem?" and i basically just told her it was going down and that was that. not to mention the owner offered to pay for our dinners/ my drinks and pay me for the gig. aka best of both worlds i guess....

so yeah.... thats the plan. thanks for the help guys.

My girl used to argue with me that my music always came before her. Whiiich sometimes was the case. I usually always take any gig I can get that pays well or is expected to have a good crowd no matter if it's last minute or if I have prior commitments. But she started to come around and realized that my goals were not going to be put in the back door for no one really.

if your getting paid for the gig, do the gig, if not then just sack it.
