Default iTunes may have not imported all files

I just imported a large folder (with subfolders) that I downloaded from Direct Music Service. iTunes is telling me that I have 668 songs in my library when the folder that I imported said it contained 692 files and 50 folders.

Does anyone have any idea as to what may have happened. Is it possible that it kicked out files that were named the same or had the same song title? I think that this may be what happened because there were a lot of edits and remixes of the same tracks.

    Thanks for the help.

    It's probably because
    1) not all those files were music files (such as database files)
    2) not all songs were in an iTunes supported format

go into the "automatically add to itunes" folder and check the subfolder "not added"

sometimes flacs or messed up encodes find their way in there as well.
