Default Windows DJ's. Optimize for performance

Microsoft just posted this really great article about optimization and I thought my fellow windows brothers would really be interested. I've been a technician my whole life and even I learned a little nugget of info from this article.

Has anyone figured out a way of blitzing the winsxs folder yet? I can't use Win7 until that farce gets sorted. XP for me!

while I can understand wanting to save space (i only have a 60 gig ssd for system on my desktop). winsxs is there for a reason and removing it is a really really really bad idea.

trust me winsxs is your friend.

This is good stuff. I personally deactivated all the fancy stuff windows 7 does (like the see through windows and what not) so the resources are where I need them.

Miss Monika.mhz wrote an excellent article for DJTT on that subject: http://www.djtechtools.com/2009/07/1...e_windows_djs/

If you're really hardcore I wrote a tool to replace explorer.exe by whatever application you want: http://www.ali.dj/explorer-replacer/

With modern pc's you shouldnt need to disable aero or go all crazy to dj.. Especially with Windows 7 Superfetch feature. If all you use is dj software on your laptop for the most part, windows will adjust itself to make sure that dj app launches faster, gets more resources, and will adjust itself over time.

The same team that developed windows xp developed windows 7 at microsoft (microsoft actually has multiple concurrently developing os teams working on seperate projects at the same time just for the desktop).

It was designed from the ground up to pay very close attention to how YOU launch apps and use your computer. Then slightly customize itself to your computing habits over time. It's actually pretty slick. I don't turn off anything to run Itch or Traktor on my laptop with no issues whatsoever. I just take care of my pc and do maintenence as needed.
