Default Akai LPD8 vs Kontrol X1 [on budget]

Considering the price of both, how much better is th Kontrol X1 if i'm adding it on top of my vci-100 mainly for hotcueing?

In other words, is it worth the extra cost for the X1 considering i already have a vci 100?

well, if you are tight go for the lpd8. both controllers are great machines and justify their prices.

the main benefits of the x1 are: regular knob height (lp ones are too small IMO), 16 more buttons, tank like build and HID link with traktor

honestly i've owned almost every midi controller out there and when it comes down to it, i have to give NI respect for building the best units, both the kontrol x1 and maschine. the build the midi programming software, the faders, the buttons, the fact that the buttons arent on and off but can be 2 seperate values for on and off so you can see what the button says in a dark club(number one reason i retired my apc40. and anyone here who has felt the smooth silkly feeling of the maschine encoders knows exactly what im talking about, i thought 600$ was a ripoff when i first saw it but i know why it cost that much, high quality components
