    in terms of practicality? completely.

if your a club dj an s4 just isnt that sensible tbh. id much rather just have to carry my laptop, a soundcard and a small midi controller such as an x1 or korg nanowhatever with traktor scratch than lug an s4 about. No matter any controller you get i doubt anyone is gonna disagree that its still a lot nicer to mix with cdj's

once the new version of traktor is out the s4 wont have much going for it other than being an "all in one solution"

besides, it's basically the same than most (digital) mixers out there.

^ yep. Two channel ins to control the timecode and then control the sample banks internally.

I don't think many folks are going to hook up 4 1200's or 4 CDJ2000's to an S4.

I understand why people think this but seriously how can people be bothered carrying it around with them to clubs??

Clubs i regularly play at i know the set up so i always just turn up with 4 mp3 CD's now. But soon to be TSP with my X1 which even then i will find a pain in the ass.

    Why is it a pain?

    Do you gig every night?

    Or weekly even?

My thoughts are that if it would help me perform to a higher standard...pushing the boundaries etc...then i would lug it around!

    I carry an APC40....VCI100....Macbook....Audio 4.....Cans.....Cables....USB Hub....and the kitchen sink!

I might not have space for it all, but then i am able to use part of this setup at least.

I will endure the pain if it is worth it....which i think it is!

Sure...the crowd might not catch every sample you dropped etc....but hey....you feel good after a solid session no?

I have always played for myself.....sure i want the crowd to be pleased as well, but firstly its ME.

If I am not enjoying myself....the crowd will see and feel this.

If I am cooking it up and having fun...trust me...this pours over into the crowd...and its game on as usual.

(oh, and I'm not a huge fan of the platters tbh, I even prefer the VCI-100 platter, and neither are a patch on vinyl)
