Default OT: Routing multiple audio tracks to different outputs on my Mac

I need to play a video file with two different audio tracks (i also have them as seperate audio files) with one audio track routed to the main stereo jack and the other one routed to a USB soundcard.
i tried it with multiple instances of VLC but couldn't get it to work.

is that even possible on my macbook pro?

    thanks!

Yeah, it's possible. I don't know how to configure it in VLC, but what you want is Soundflower. Choose it as your sound card (in audio midi setup, vlc, or your daw) and use soundflowerbed (bundled) to make it send the appropriate signals to the appropriate cards. I've never used VLC that way, so you might need to use a vide-enabled DAW. Garage Band might do it; if not, Ableton will.
