I've never seen any vids of Skrillex using anything other than his Live setup. Doubt he has ever used cds.

I think it's a sign the end of dubstep (ooops)

Sucks to be him, but hopefully it'll spare people from the awfulness that is Skrillex. Does the world need another emo singer-turned wobble wobble brostep producer?
The guy doesn't even DJ! The guy is minimally involved with his Live setup, and just turns a knob and proceeds to wave his arms for the next 2 minutes.
Everything about that rube screams "bandwagon"
I 80% agree with you. He does whatever he does well, but it is true that everything, and i mean everything he plays at his shows are already set up in ableton. He doesn't improv anything on the fly besides his chained lfo/masher/gater knob.
And yes, for anyone that doesn't know, [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skrillex"]Sonny Moore - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:SonnyMooreSkrillex.jpg" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e7/SonnyMooreSkrillex.jpg/220px-SonnyMooreSkrillex.jpg"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/e/e7/SonnyMooreSkrillex.jpg/220px-SonnyMooreSkrillex.jpg[/ame]
he did start out in post-hardcore/screamo/the beginning of the downfall of western culture.

Skrillex definitely learned the hard way. Hopefully he takes the lesson. Glad he got his tracks back. Personally, i love most of his tracks. I'm far from a dubstep purist but his tracks hit hard and i love his remixes.
BTW - you won't find many edm shows with wildly creative live performances. there are a few but mostly you are paying to see the people, who made something brilliant in a studio, dance to it live.
A-Trak had similar issues recently. He carries two laptops but they're for different purposes so he to had to cancel shows. fortunately, he's smarter about backing up his drives. just didn't have them with him at the time.
i've had some serious issues of my own. a couple years back i was down in Baltimore for a BIG nye show i was playing. i got to my hotel room and i got my Macbook Pro out to do some tweaking to some tracks and it wouldn't read my external drive. neither would my backup computer. i had to piece together a set from my on-board itunes library. it was a very nerve couple of hours. i put tons of hours into putting together the set and it was gone. byt he time i went on, i had a decent set put together and it went ok but i learned my lesson. i now keep all my files on my internal drive and i carry a backup external and spare laptop to most of my shows.
anyone recommend a good external hard drive to create a bootable back up of everything on my mac? i have a seagate one and a wd one, any of them any good, and also how many gig would you recommend having on it?
