im not in the mood to dance to gaga
unfortunately most of the US is.
well if you want easy mode then yeah, just drop tracks that everyone knows. but learning to program a set with new dance music is a lot more challenging. so again, a good rule to use is by finding and playing tracks that literally make it hard for you to not start dancing around in your chair or give you that urge to stand up and shake your money maker.
a lot of guys i know that drop stuff they like only usually go on rants about how theyre trying to "educate the crowd" in defence as to why they had a dead dancefloor during their set.
dont try to educate the crowd. when its newer stuff, just ask a simple rule. do i want to dance to this track? cause if you dont, then you cant expect anyone else to. all music is new at some point. but if the only thing you want to do when you hear it is bob your head and say shit like "thats cool". then thats all you can expect your crowd to do as well.
all music is new at one point or another. really, its our job to play it first.

i was just being dificult lol
..and if you do want to educate a crowd (especially outside of a major city) only drop a couple of new songs in a set - and space them out, dont drop 10 new songs one after the other!
I figure my job is to inspire this reaction.
if thats possible im going to make that happen, i dont care if i need to start over and get a music degree. i want to be responsible for this.
or have my face planted in it, one of the two.
