unless its got a latin polyrhythm which a lot of dance music does (And why some latin vibey tracks really piss you off when you try to use sync and stuff just refuses to line up)

Hence 'the majority of popular music'

I really like Lack of Afro / Rejection in 6/8 Time as a track, but its too much of a pig to be arsed mixing into ...

no what im talking about...dubstep is really like kick 1/3 type of thing (i know theres variations and such) but its majority of 2/2 or two step type of music...most house and such is in 4/4 being the kick on 1,2,3,4

im just wondering...if someone made dubstep just in 4/4 would that be electro or some variation of dubstep

    i know what you mean.

kickdrum on the first and third beat, snares still on second and fourth beat of the measure.

i think it would fall under breaks. house has kickdrums on every beat.

yeh dubstep has a comparitively sparse drumbeat, I guess a more dense drumbeat at 140bpm would be breakstep or something.

breaks, jungle and dubstep are still 4/4 albeat syncopated and non standard. You can mix breaks with house, jungle with trance and dubstep with techno, although your experience may vary

I generally just clump everything in as electronic music. dub is just another sub-catagory of electro..
pretty much in my mind shit that is made with computers, analogue machines, synthesisers, etc, is electro.. shit that is made with instruments is probably not electro

"dub is just another sub-catagory of electro"

    are you crazy?
skrillex stuff can be called that, but dubstep its self isnt.
