    Default NYE tips and Tricks

I am putting together a post on wed for our NYE gigs and it would be great to have your input.

    Do you:
    • have any mp3s built to make the countdown epic?
    • have any tips for your fellow djs on NYE?
    • have one must play NYE song

    thanks guys!

well i can say a type of music good for the countdown might be some intense orchestra music... similar to this kind:

im not sure what the type of music is called (if there is a genre).

I thought it would be criminal not to drop Daft Punk on NYE, lol jks.

These probably are not all for the club dj, but if your doing a house party and want to have fun and not be looking at your computer all night, check these out.

this is if you play electro-ish, blog stuff, or hiphop/rap REMIXES!! and stuff. good for any occasion though. *cough* hypem.com

Sisters Of Transistors - The Don (sick synth track, guy from 808 state drumming)
Sta vs. Gerry Raffery - Baker's Dozen
The Bloody Beetroots - Dimmakmmunication (I don't need to talk this up)
Rick Ross - Hustlin' (XXXChange remix) (mellow)
The Nextmen - Tom's Version Ah Yeah (hiphop w/ reggae beat)
N.E.R.D. - Run To The Sun (hiphop)
Kanye West & Common - Get 'Em High (A-Trak Remix)

Lil Wayne - LIL WAYNE - A MILLIE (NADASTROM REMIX) (favourite track at the moment)

Advise....don't get trollied before your finish your set, or start for that matter.

slip this into the mix and make some memories.....Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes

this is my new years song...The Ronettes - Be My Baby...it should be yours too!
    Macbook 2Ghz, 4Gb Ram, Presonus Firebox, X-Session Pro, Behringer BCR2000, Technics RPDJ-1200's.

If your mixing drum and bass drop konflict-messiah_(noisia_remix) from 1 min-29seconds onwards right after the countdown - everyone will go absolutely nuts.

I tried making a lead up to midnight some years ago, I think for the millennium, but it didn't work, or rather, wouldn't have worked - I knew it wouldn't work and din't use it.

I prefer to plan my lead up to midnight as I go. I still think it is important to plan it though as this moment is all-important and by putting it in the fore-front of you mind during the evening will mean that you can get those all-important timings right.

I will be Djing a black tie and posh frocks do (and that's just what I'll be wearing ). The music will be very pop and oldie oriented, but I will have to plan the midnight crescendo to include the chimes of big ben (dead on time) some auld lang syne, a couple of smoochies for the couples and bar staff (who get 10 minutes off to grab someone that they may have had their eye on).

It's all in the plan, but the plan needs flexibilty as I have learned.

    What say you??

Usually, in Belgium, clubs are empty at midnight, if they are open at all...
Traktor scratch pro - NI Audio 8 - Akai MPD 32 - MacBook black 2.4Ghz
    DJM 800 - CDJ 800x2 - SL1200x2 - Yamaha HSM80

    You could always throw in:

Jupiter One - Countdown (LA Riots Remix - Radio Edit)

    or

Sergio Matina - The Final Countdown (Electronic Drums Project Club Remix)

Does anyone have an MP3 of a good countdown voice? I need something for a NYE show I'm producing.
