LOLz. One of the advantages of being dutch.

But... To get back on the requesting business. When I used to be an MC, I would cut off people that would try to herass the DJ.
(yeah yeah, I used to be an MC, and most important of all, I knew how to shut up and let the DJ shine in the spotlights!)
You could try to set that up.

You could always get one of these. It's tax-deductible, too.

Before I was a DJ I never understood why other DJs wouldn't play my requests, as I figured they were sure to get people on the floor.

The reality is, people don't even know what you're doing up there, and why you have a set a headphones.

There's no point in becoming frustrated with people, because I'm sure that if they understood your role as the DJ that they would leave you alone...

So I guess I would try to explain why I can't play the track or whatever, you know? Or if you don't have the time, just lie and say you don't have the song.

orca: it really does depend on the scene you're in. In the scene I DJ in (goth/industrial) there are nights based entirely off of requests, and nights where the DJs refuse to take them. Both are hit and miss. Hell, I have a huge divide with the guys I work with because they have an 'open CD policy' of 'you bring it, we spin it'. So I started spinning on my laptop so I can say "Sorry, no CD requests." People aren't always happy, but, well, there are other DJs for things like that. I call them juke boxes. :-)
    It's the FAQ. Read it.

In America, if you are at somebody's party, I can almost guarantee at some point someone will ask for hiphop or rap no matter what you are playing.
