The MOST important thing is to get your foot in the door. Once your in, other promoters and club owners will notice you.

I always suggest this...Download Serato Scratch Live, put all your playlist on iTunes and analyse them in SSL. Buy some timecodes Vinyl & download the cd version from the RANE site. And rock a set the way the promoter wants you to do it.

Once you make a name for yourself, they wont give a rats ass if you show up with a DAT tape with a pre-record set.

Maybe one day in the future, Controllerists will have a month dedicated to all struggles they've encountered over the years. Tired of the debate....Use everything!! If they don't want ya...then go somewhere else or learn to use different types of equipment.

@Mostapha....when did this become a Top 40 hate thread?

The only time I've experienced any sort of prejudice was from a talentless DJ who used Serato in internal mixer mode (or whatever it's called) and didn't even own turntables or a mixer. Needless to say, he was all over his promoter's d***, and he ended up getting all the gigs. :/ Glad I'm not living in that city anymore.

in Miami the clubs that cater to open format - Serato and two decks rule. At the more EDM places, Space for example, they bring in headliners every weekend and those dudes play on whatever the want. Not long ago I saw some shots of Stefano Noferini playing on the Speace Terrace on a DJM-800 and an X1. Nothing else.

I think certain crowds are gonna be more open to it.
