Default Pull the wireless touchpad from a keyboard?

So, I'm working on this mod, and I wont go into too much detail, but It's been stressing me out. The controller is wireless, but I'd like to add a touchpad...unfortunately almost every touchpad out there is WIRED. And I'd hate to lose the convenience of the wireless controller Especially as I run out of USB ports.

Here's my question, does anyone have any experience with those wireless keyboards that have touchpads in them? Would it be reasonable to strip it out, keep the power, the wireless mechanism and the touchpad, and then mount those to the deck? The wireless performance has become something I truly enjoy, and I'm not ready to tether myself down for a little x/y control.

Yeah thers no reason why that wouldnt be possible - just make sure that the pad is supported by a program that converts it to midi and your good to go.

my only concern is picking one up and ending up with the entire mechanism depending on the motherboard controlling the keyboard, and thus it being a failed mod.

Seriously how hard would it be for someone to come out with just a plain USB to RF touchpad? not like it sends THAT much data.

Have you got an iPhone or iTouch? Use that instead and save yourself ALOT of hassle.

It doesnt matter if your a PC or Mac user, there is software to cater for all.

iTouch MIDI is the software if you ever consider getting an iPhone or iTouch.

Herm....The problem is, I'd end up having to install the ipod touch inside the device for me to be completely happy...being obsessed with looks and all. ^_^

I'll look into the possibility though if the other stuff doesn't work out.

That'd be perfect, if it wasn't for the wire.
