This is a sick little piece of kit. It allows for all manner of communication between devices connected to it, and that communication takes place at the full speed of the USB port (12Mbps). That's a fatter pipe with lower latency. I've been watching these guys since around November, and checked them out at NAMM. This and the Akai Studio Dock are really interesting hardware (although I'm betting my money on the iConnect MIDI because of the iPad2 formfactor change coming soon and it's potential effect on the Studio Dock).

It just didn't work this time But I'll know to do the youtube brackets next time.

Nemonic thanks for the reply as this company is so new and the product isn't out yet, I was wondering what some one in the industry thought about it.

There's more info on their site
    http://www.iconnectmidi.com/

The Alesis iodock looks pretty cool too

Tbqh tho I thought Apple were gonna add the USB midi connectivity that I want, via the camera adapter kit, in the last software update so we wouldn't have to spend another $200 on these things.

Confused. This isn't intended to replace a USB hub, correct?

MIDI devices > iConnect > USB Hub > Laptop --- in that order of actions?

I'm going to be buying a powered hub today for connection speed and pops and crackles and what not. Just wanting to double check if the iConnect is a more viable option.

They DID add it. But the problems is that the iDevice isn't seen as a MIDI device through the CCK. You CAN use a MIDI adapter (like the M-Audio uno) to allow your iPad to communicate properly with other devices as a MIDI controller, but it's 5 Pin DIN.

There currently isn't a solution to allow the iPad to communicate with a computer via the 30 pin connector. Using the CCK, you can communicate with any device that can connect to the iPad and be recognized as a MIDI device.

Confused. This isn't intended to replace a USB hub, correct?
This is to give iDevices (Apple mobile devices) "real" MIDI I/O.
