With these new macbook pro's does it make the new models better to buy? with the lower processor speed? or does it really matter because of the update from i5 to i7

    +1.

Also, it doesn't freaking matter. Traktor is not very resource intensive.

just for the record, the processors in all new macs are a lot faster than those in the previous generation. lower clock speed doesn't imply lower performance.

The key thing here is sandybridge. Think back to the last time intel did this with the Core2Duo. It's a big enough difference that I don't think you are getting your money's worth with the lower models.

Man... I hate to be "That Guy", but you can get an i7 HP laptop for less than $800.

You could buy an S4 with the money you save... just sayin.

but that won't be a Sandy Bridge though ... only apple has the SB models and that would stay like this for at least few more weeks.

and honestly, if I have just $800, i'd still be looking to get a mac ... even if it has to be an old C2D

Lolwhut? Asus for example has been selling SB-laptops for about a month already, in the N53 series if I'm not mistaken. Other manufacturers have been selling these too, including HP, Dell (recently), and others.

OT: the new CPU's indeed provide wayyy more bang for your buck than the previous models.
