Default Top 100 DJs ever ...

Was out last night nattering to a mate, and we got onto this one - Who would be in your list of the top 100 DJs of all time.

The only rule we could think of was that the nominees had to be DJ's not producers (so no Deadmau5/Prince Paul/Dan The Automator, as they produce but don't really DJ, but J Dilla is allowed as he used to DJ live for Slum Village)

Yes I know it'll be a subjective list, but I'm interested non the less ...

Off the top of my head some of the names from last night were (bearing in mind he and I are primarily into Hip-Hop

    Grandmaster Flash
    Kid Koala
    Terminator X
    Young Einstein
    Larry Levan
    Madlib
    Grand Wizzard Theodore
    DJ Kentaro
    DJ Q-Bert
    DJ Format
    Cut Chemist
    DJ Babu
Jonathan More & Matt Black (Coldcut)
    Grand Mixer DST
    Shiftee Mixmaster Mike
    DJ Yoda
    DJ Krush
    Jam Master Jay
    DJ Yella
    DJ Cam
    J Dilla
Jimmy Saville (first person to use two decks at the same time apparently ... :eek
Greg Wilson (first person to mix on UK TV, on Blue Peter)
    DJ Kool Herc
    Afrika Bambaataa
    Frankie Knuckles
    Roc Raida
A-Trak (youngest ever winner of the DMC)
    Mr Thing
    Rob Swift
    DJ Dexter
    DJ Quest
    Z-Trip
    Peanut Butter Wolf
    DJ MK
    Keb Darge

    What do you reckon?

As you said SO - subjective. Taking out the producer changes things somewhat. Need to ponder............

BTW - both Cox and Hurley produce.

I think there's DJ's that primarily produce and Dj's that primarily DJ, Cox really does blur the lines in though. He's a good DJ and also a good producer.

No problem with production, as long as they're DJs as well - and by DJ I mean more than just hitting play on their latest tune ...
