    Default New Genre!?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMopO-S9mSM

thats The Chemical Brothers-Keep My Composure. it grids at 100bpm. wtf is this? is it a new genre?
if anyone knows of any more bass heavy dance music in this style please let me know cos its the shit and i want more. the chembros have a few other 100bpm songs but they all have that typical big-beat beat, im really lovin that new dubsteppish drone, its PHAT!
the only other music ive found that i can mix this with at the mo is Minuit, like this

    http://www.myspace.com/minuittheband
the net at work wont let me access their music so i dont know what songs are up there, possibly new shit that i dont know, but they rock, the singer chick is gorgeous and she has a crazy voice due to some car crash and having to relearn how to talk

    anyway enough ranting... enlighten me!!

    Sounds like bigbeat/trip-hop to me.

im tempted to agree with you there, but its just so damn fresh! its completely different to anythin ive ever heard from the chembros, i spose one could argue that it fits some of the codes/conventions of bigbeat but its pushing the boundaries pretty hard compared to bigbeats history-which i have a rather limited knowledge of (Chembros,Prodigy,Fat Boy Slim is all i know)

seriously 100bpm? wtf? how does one mix this

hey! chemical brothers are the shit! i loved the "we are the night" album although it took some time to really understand what they were doin there, i found it a bit rough to begin with. but its the shit. namely the lyrics of battle scars, a truer metaphor for life ive never read

I never said they went soft , I just said I "thought" they went soft ... after dig your own hole 10+ years ago I didn't really follow them much at all but the couple of bits I did hear led me to believe that they were going in a completely different direction - that was my assumption anyhow , I never really followed up to see if it was completely true or not.

I remember exit planet dust being really sick but I would assume thats mostly because of the dust brothers influence as I didn't think dig your own hole was quite as good ...

PS. thanks for those track names

Its got a pretty phat bassline, not really liking those vocals though.
