    I'm not sure ableton is what you are looking for. It always seeed fairly beefy when I used it. Why not look at all the standard DAWs and see which one has the lowest system requirements?

    24 hour shifts? Where the fuck do you work?

    you'll just have to freeze channels more often. I used live on a Celeron powered notebook for quite some years.
