Default Looking for a program to...

I work 24 hour shifts. Sometimes I would rather make music than watch tv/ps3. I have a small Acer Aspire netbook and an Akai LPD8. Is there a light weight program I could install to make beats with?

I might try it. I am running an Atom core, 1.6 GHz, maxed out at 1.5GB ram

    Magic music maker
I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.

I'd do Ableton Live Lite as well. It's the perfect program for all DAW needs and it's the lite version so that way you don't have to worry about space on your computer!

Anyway if you choose Ableton Live Lite (a.k.a. intro version) one of our esteemed members is selling theirs on the forum for $75. Here's the link:

I have ableton at home and love it. It also occurred to me that I have an issue of Computer Music magazine that has a stripped version of Reaper on it. I am probably going to give that a go (it is free).

Magic music maker looked promising but it costs around $50.
Kristal Audio Engine looked really cool, but no midi support.

If Reaper is sluggish/isn't my cup of tea, I will probably go with Ableton Lite.
