Default Couple of questions on buying a mac.

Right finally decided i want a mac (mainly because i know someone working at apple) going for the base 13inch model heres the specs on it.

    2.3GHz dual-core
    Intel Core i5
    4GB 1333MHz
    320GB 5400-rpm1
    Intel HD Graphics 3000

Ill be defiantly getting it with a 500 Gig Hd and just wondering is it worth upgrading to 8 Gig Ram??

Ill be using it for just Tpro2 and probably keep the current version of traktor on it.

Also is it worth boot camping windows 7 on it and run traktor on the windows partition?

    Thanks lads.
    I play everything Indie/ Rock/ HipHop/ Cheese/ Electro/ Dubstep and anything that sounds good

    Tsp 1.7/ Tsp 2/ Sony vaio Win 7 4gb Ram / Macbook Pro 13 inch (Main machine) /vci 100 se/ mixdeck/ audio 8/ technics rph headphones/ Custom xBox Controller/ Akai Lpd8

8 gig ram over kill especially on the 13"

forget windows man, defeats point of running traktor on a mac. it's the OS that adds to the stability

run windows on it of you want but don't buy a mac and run traktor on windows... that's insanity

Dito. Plus…nothing today really needs 8 GB of ram unless you're going insane with video editing or production. I can run traktor and live just fine on 2GB. And…in a couple years when software gets more demanding, you can upgrade then and actually feel the difference…might make you delay buying a new laptop and save you a bit of money.

Or get it…whatever. Apple's prices on Ram and HDDs are kinda dumb, though…if you're capable, get good ram and HDD somewhere else and install it yourself.

(don't let anyone tell you that it voids the warranty…it doesn't)

The only suggestion I'd make is that SSDs are awesome if you can afford them.

Getting a mac and run traktor in bootcamp is blasphemy (jk.....kinda).

You'll be fine with 4gigs of ram

this is what i would do. I would buy the stock mbp 13" and upgrade the ram to 8gb & 500gb, 640, 750 or 1tb HD myself. check out www.ifixit.com

you could save tons of cash doing the upgrade yourself and its not that tough to do.

only do it down the track if you find you need it.. it's not a necessity.

you will only seriously need it if you are working with video editing, compositing, 3d modelling softwares.

There is absolutely no use in installing 8GB at this point with your useage, that's just money right down the sink.
The only upgrade that I'd recommend is installing an SSD, either by replacing your SuperDrive (a little trickier), or by replacing your HDD. An SSD is the only upgrade that's going to speed up your system, and its going to be a huge upgrade too.

Replacing the SuperDrive will void the warranty according to an AppleCare representative.

Also…while I think Macs are better and there is nothing in this world that will make me run Windows on a machine I own (except in a virtual machine to test code), I'm kinda just trolling. The OP's question has been answered, and this thread is going to go downhill anyway.
