I used to have USB issues with one usb port with serato sl1 box.

try this if you haven't already

Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve

    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    4. Release the power button.
    5. Attach the computers power cable.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

This resets the power distribution to all ports

Won't the third step turn your computer back on?

So anyway this is really interesting, my computer is still backing up via CCC and I had to go return some items to other stores in the area so I decided to just take my Maschine to BestBuy and try it out on their other MacBooks. So when I tried it out, my Maschine does not seem to be working with ANY of the new MacBooks.

I just made an appointment with my Genius Bar today and i'm going to take in both apples and everything else. Lets see how it goes, and what they say!

I also posted it in NI's forums, but I guess you have to wait for a moderator (KARLOS <3!) to approve of the message. I posted it under this thread:

Is Maschine USB1.1 by any chance?

Even if it is, aren't all USB ports backwards compatible?

My MBP arrives on Monday and can't wait!

I believe the i7 doesn't support native USB1.1, just through emulation. It could be causing the poor performance, or at least contributing.

Pretty sure it doesn't, but I actually remember calling apple care about this and they said to also pull out the battery before step 3

    so:

    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
2.1 Pull out the laptop battery
    3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    3.1 Replace the battery
    5. Attach the computers power cable.
    6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

I would try both ways, once with the battery in, then run test, once with battery out technoque then run test

won't hurt to reset it twice if both ways work.

Just out of sheer curiosity and I haven't read it in any of your responses.. but did you download the newest drivers from the Native Instruments site?

I had the same thing with my X1 and then I remembered that the newer firmware simply doesn't work with the old driver, thus lighting up and then going all black-out.

Yeah, I pulled out two MacBook Pros and the Maschine and I looked like a pro. Anyway, he had no idea what it was either. He checked it out everything was fine so then he re-installed it once more and re-upgraded it and it started working fine. It was really odd.

This is why I love Apple though, I went there and regardless of the problem it was solved. Never buying another PC. Ever. Maschine is back up and running, I love you Apple!
