It's quiet and will really only be useful with a mixer that has send and returns if using to DJ. On that note, production wise it would be much wiser to use VSTs. and KP3 or KPMini is best used for live performances.
What's your setup? I have a KP3 and might be able to help you see how it could fit into your setup.

i just use a a laptop running traktor and then have an apc40 to control it.
i have the KPmini if thats what u mean? the output is quieter then the input you give it, there is no midi in or out, so for production i'd say no...
but, it is really good fun, very portable, and along with the monotron, will really piss people off when used on a plane
