Well 5.1 has 6 channels of audio
Front left speaker
Front right speaker
Back left speaker
Back right speaker
Subwolfer
and the Centre speaker
Basicly you just take the track of audio thats comming out the centre speaker - so simple an idea i am hitting myself over the head as to why i never thought of this haha.
I don't know why you're hitting yourself over the head...it doesn't necessarily work that way...

it saves the channels as seperate wav files.
edit: I've used this method to pull a depeche mode capella.

A quick search on mininova or piratebay turns up nuff results... Also Noah down at Hot Wax Records in Ybor Florida usually has a nice stack of 12"' acapella plates in the back room, give him a shout (813)248-6999. I found that VST I used to isolate vocals. It's called Extra Boy Pro. Give it a try. It actually works quite well.
A lot of bootleg vinyls have acapellas on them. Like whitelabel remixes of tracks in my experience have every now and then included an acapella so you can remix the track yourself (I'm assuming that is the intention).
There are also acapella compilations on vinyl too that I've found. And my fav of the moment, T&A Breaks Vol 1 and 2 (Tittsworth and Ayres).
