    Default USB hub (latency?)

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone currently uses a USB hub during their gigs. I've had my eye on this one, as I'm going to have a few controllers (eek), external hard drive and just want some room for other stuff if necessary.

Was just wondering if there were any Do's or Don't when looking to purchase these. Much thanks in advance!

I use a D-Link powered hub. Just try to get a hub with it's own external power source. Some devices such as HDD and USB Mixers like a lotta juice. I couldn't tell if it had a power supply, but I did like that top load.

The main issue with latency from a USB hub is how many translators it has, without getting too technical some USB hubs have one translator for all 4 ports, this is what will introduce latency to your system.

Good usb hubs will have one translator per port, these hubs offer the best performance.

Unfortunatley most places wont let you pull apart a product to check which chipset is uses before buying i.

Maybe people here (Including me) can make a list of the "good" hubs for reference before buying stuff

    Hi guys,

I'm using this logitech hub: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/no.../3048&cl=fr,fr

with an external adapter for gigs or not when at home.

I can't feel any latency at all, it really works good for me.
Very nicely build (solid and compact, with case =) )

And i don't work for them haha
