    my oh my...so what exactly does this virus do...is this the same thing thats infecting major company networks??...Man its a scurry thought that the back up of your back up harddrive mite not even be safe =P...

    The conficker basically creates bots which are programs that will be called upon a later date to deliver either more viruses to other computers, flood websites with traffic to collapse them, or to collect email addresses, credit card numbers, and other identity theft data.
    It is a nasty bugger, we had it infect a whole office in Singapore but was able to contain it.
    Your best bet is to update Microsoft Windows with patch MS08-067 (released in October) to block this from happening and run regular scans on your computer.

    awesome, thanks. its easy to tell if they got worms but i have a hard time seeing viruses.
