    Default "Mobile DJ's" speaker advice.

Couldn't find any useful threads on this, I'm looking for an affordable solution for a 2-speaker & a sub set-up for house parties and whatnot. I play a lot of bass-heavy music, I don't need a PA or anything, just the speakers. One of my friends has opted to make the purchase, and I'm not sure how to advise him.

I have used this for about a year, and it is surprisingly loud and clean for for the price, extremely mobile as well.

It also has two "through" outputs for hooking up two or more of them in a chain, or using it as reenforcement someplace that has sound already.

    There is a 1000 and a 2000, obviously the 2k is larger/more expensive.

I would say the 1k is good for 100-150 ppl, and I dont really see the 2k being adequate for more than 200-250.

i have two behringer eurolive b412 dsp 12 inch active speakers (not available anymore) and a cerwin vega cva 118 18 inch active subwoofer.
total output system 1500 watt rms

a lot of bang for not to bad price but heavy.

If i should upgrade know i would go for the new ev live x active speakers light and decent priced. 2 12 inch tops and a 18 inch subwoofer total 2000 dollars but you have aportable and killer system

At five times the cost of the B-52, I would hope so.

I've heard great things about the Matrix 1000 set-up which has a sub included and personally own a pair of Mackie Thumps (no sub but they are very powerful on the low end and loud enough for a house party - not anything much bigger though)

You're paying for quality, reliability, and an unheard of warranty. I can't see how you can go wrong when a company is going to back their product with a 6 year warranty on speakers which are meant for mobile applications. It says a lot about them.

and for the record, I don't think I would trust any active speaker that's comparable to mine that retails for $300. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

Also keep in mind that the QSC (almost all series) have optional hardware that makes them flyable. The fact that people use them in installs really says something great about the active QSC series quality. I can't think of any other brands that customers are doing that with.
