Default looking for a pro to explain this technique...

i was hoping someone would be able to explain the technique in the following video... it looks like all his eqs pretty much stay around 12 o clock, both channels are up, and is using the high pass filter on each channel to control and balance the sound... does anyone use this technique or could explain to me what exactly is going on? really appreciate any input... thanks alot

    Yeah...not seeing much happening there!

He is jamming 2 tracks at the same time....and using the HiPass to control the levels and sound combo.

It looks like "oh theres a camera, look busy" Its very hard to tell if thats the track he's playing or if he's making tiny tweaks!!
Well at least he looks busy...ish!

it is kinda strange, he uses only an x1 and mixes 2 tracks without some action behind it(no loops, no effects, etc.). so he skips the part that involves skills and just haves an easy time behind the mixer.

i guess the camera would have made him uneasy if he just stood there and did what was needed.

as long as the crowd likes what he does…

Very true!!Its easy to sit at home analyse a video!! Every dj will at some point in their career have a video taken that doesnt do him/her justice!
It might be small but at least hes making an effort for the camera! It would be worse if he just stood there!!

A lot of DJ's will do nervous fidgeting with knobs and faders just to make sure they're where they're supposed to be. I think that's more what he's doing there and not really trying to fake it.
