    Keep the macbook.

    Get the s4

Get a couple hundred dollars worth of music.

If you don't like it in 6 months you can get half your money back for the hardware.

The s4 will give you all the abilties your ever going to need to figure out if you wanna dj or not.

I was going to say get an s4 but I thin you need a decent set of cans myself.

A good set of headphones is like having a nice car if you ask me

check out SONY MDR-7506's for 100 bucks.

1000 bucks. That's a great night of booze and bitches!

also do you already have TP? I think if you get a second hand VCI-100, and there's some awesome deals on the forum, you could have a new laptop, controller, soundcard, headphones and money left over.

Love when people start djing and splash out on all the top gear straight away... "pauly d" style.. Haha why not see if its for you.. I know many people with cdj 1000s sitting there and realising it wasnt for them ha why not get a shitty 100 quid controller and try mixing with the free program you get with it usually virtual dj and seeing if you like it... Its not about what you use its about how you use it , i used a hercules mp3 e2 for ages with a numark sound card that worked perfect for what i needed, the two items cost 150 euro

A new mac book is $999. And you certainly do not need an s4 to start out. but you might be able to get both. Have you considered any other controllers? I started out on a Mixtrack, and it's just fine.
