    Default Your first DJ Software

How do you get involved in Digital DJing?

I installed my first DJ software back in 1999, when I was still running Win95. The name of the program was "Virtual Turntables", and it allows to load all the tracks the RAM can manage. I used to work with 3-4 tracks at once. It supported WAVs and MP3s.

At that time, I got two sound cards on my destop PC (not SoundBlaster 'cause the IRQ conflicts). The product was discontinued in 2001, but the website still works:

VTT was the door to a brand new world of digital audio manipulation. And I'm thankful.

I started with Traktor DJ Studio1.2 or something.

Back in 2000 or 2001 I went to see a live show by Secret Cinema. He then used it to play his loops.
After seeing him use that, I was hooked.

I bought a box of CD labels to start organizing my tracks I had illegally downloaded and it came with a free copy of eJay. I put it on the comp, installed a second soundcard to preview, and just started working. From there it was on to Final Scratch 2.

traktor dj studio 2 ... I just played around with it for fun. Although I knew how to beatmatch with vinyl (learned on my friends turntable setup) I didn't consider myself a DJ at that point.

It wasn't until Traktor 3 was released that I started taking it much more seriously. I bedroom DJ'd constantly for about 2 years then eventually got into doing gigs/promoting.
