    Default HELP!!!! think i just tanked my macbook.

    Ok so i was just going to do a fresh install of osx on my macbook pro

    loaded in disc
    clicked install osx
    then laptop restated

    got a flashing flle with a question mark

    then when pressing option got a password screen tried my password did not boot

    took a trip to google and one bit said take out the ram put it back in and turn it on

    now my macbook wont turn on at all

    any help?


    currently writing this and weeping on my girlfriends macbook

    now its turning back on again but still getting that folder flashing with the question mark

    ????

    Get a mac, wait, oops.

    not 100% sure but maybe you could use dualboot using your girls mac and remotely install your OS onto your mac

    EDIT: Bootcamp* sorry

    or maybe the remotely install osX in utilities?

    windows no problem but this is a first for me

    go to desktop, then your top bar, 'go' then 'applications' then down to the bottom to 'utilities' and try either of the two programs, probably remotely install osx first,

    no idea how it works or anything, just ive heard this problem a few times and simply passing on info

    but starting boot camp on my g/f's laptop is not gonna help as i cant get past the flashing question mark on my laptop so dont i need to get in to my mac to set this up all so i dont see how thos methods are gonna help me but thank you for trying

    this is the last thing i need on a saturday night
    all i did was stick in an osx disc

    i have time machine back ups on a hard drive but when i connect that to the mac i still get flashing question mark unless i hold down option then i get a root password screen and i don't know what it is

    I think you have to hold down either C or COMMAND while booting with an OSX CD to select to boot it...
